The moon is one of the most intriguing subjects in humankind. 

Close to our heart and dreams, it is the brightest object in the sky after the sun, represents the Earth only known natural satellite, shows only one face from our own perspective at least and is marked with dark volcanic craters.

Soviet Union's Luna program enabled unmanned spacecraft reach in 1959, followed by several NASA Apollo orbiting missions involving Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin as Eagle lunar module pilot in July 21, 1969 who landed in and drove onto the Sea of Tranquillity during 21 days 31 minutes.

As from 1990, Japan, Europe, China and India organised successful missions to the Moon, considered as the province of all mankind.
